WORK COMMENCING BEFORE ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD APPROVAL

Any homeowner or homeowner’s representative who commences any work on a building, structure, or hardscaping before obtaining the necessary ARB approval shall be subject to a fine of twice the ARB Submittal Fee for said project, or a minimum of $100, whichever is greater, in addition to all other permit fees. The Town Architect is authorized to waive or reduce such fee as determined by the circumstances surrounding the commencement of work without first obtaining approval.

General Assembly staff members look for the orange “permit” that should be displayed in the window of a home where work is being performed. If the orange card is not in the window, staff will stop and speak with the workers about the requirement. Without the permit, work is halted and delays are inevitable.

Please stop by the General Assembly office if you have questions.
