The General Assembly is aware of several lighting outages, including the parking lot lights on the west side of the Amphitheater between Rue Royale and Domain, as well as a few other General Assembly-owned light fixtures throughout New Town.
We understand the importance of these lights for both safety and visibility and want to assure the community that this issue has been actively pursued. The primary cause of the delay has been identifying the underground electrical infrastructure, including power sources and wiring routes serving these lights.
To move this project forward, we have worked through multiple channels to gather the necessary information, including:
- Contacting the original electrical contractor involved in establishing New Town’s lighting infrastructure.
- Working with the City to obtain available electrical plans and utility information.
- Consulting with the New Town developers for additional guidance and historical records.
We are pleased to share that we have now partnered with an electrical contractor who will assist in locating and mapping the underground electrical lines. This is a critical step that will allow repairs to be completed safely and efficiently.
We are currently awaiting a scheduled start date from the contractor. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work toward resolving these lighting issues.
