New Town residents,
We want to take a moment to remind everyone about an important community standard regarding trash bin storage. We’ve recently observed an increase in bins being left out in driveways, side yards, and other visible areas after trash collection days. This is a direct violation of our community’s Declaration and Rules & Regulations.
As a reminder, our Declaration, Article IX, Section 1, Part H states:
“Approved Receptacles. No trash, rubbish, garbage, trashcan or other receptacle therefor, other than those receptacles approved by the District Assembly within which such Parcel is located, shall be placed on any Parcel outside of a Dwelling or in a Commercial District.”
Additionally, our Rules and Regulations, Article IV, Section 4.12 (b) outlines:
“Trash, garbage and any other refuse or waste (hereinafter ‘Garbage’) shall not be kept on any Lot outside of a Dwelling or Garage except in containers or compactor units designed for the storage of Garbage (hereinafter ‘Garbage Containers’) that are screened from view by appropriate landscaping, enclosures or fencing approved by the Architectural Review Board and are located directly outside of and adjacent to such Dwelling or Garage; provided, however, that Garbage Containers may be moved to the side yard, front yard, or driveway of any Lot on Garbage collection days so long as any Garbage Containers are afterward removed therefrom the same day. Notwithstanding the foregoing, bulk items that cannot fit into a Garbage Container may be placed outside on the side yard, front yard, or driveway without a container on the day of collection.”
Garbage containers must be removed the same day as trash pick-up and stored out of view—either inside your garage or behind approved screening.
Let’s work together to maintain the clean, attractive, and neighborly environment that makes New Town so special.
Thank you for your attention and cooperation.
